Buffalo, Wyoming is a small community at the base of the Bighorn Mountains. It is located where Interstate 25 merges into Interstate 90. It is a convenient point for tourists traveling between Yellowstone National Park and the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Johnson County is rich with old western history and is the home to Craig Jonhson, the author of the Longmire series of books regarding a sheriff in a fictional county in Northern Wyoming that inspired a television series on A&E and Netfilx.
